Overview

DHU Healthcare is a not-for-profit community interest NHS partner that delivers compassionate patient care to ten million people in the Midlands. We have been working with DHU Healthcare since 2014, providing recruitment support for interim, fixed-term, and permanent positions across a range of professional services specialisms, up to Executive level.

Our long-standing collaboration with DHU extends far beyond recruitment. Most recently, DHU Healthcare has selected me&dee as their corporate charity partner, a charity that Sellick Partnership has supported for years, with Group Director Nikki Kinsey sitting on their Board of Trustees. Additionally, DHU Healthcare has been a key participant in our popular Charity Football Tournament which takes place annually.

Account management

DHU Healthcare is managed internally by two of our expert recruitment partners.

Nikki Kinsey has been an integral member of the Sellick Partnership team for almost 19 years and serves as a member of the Board of Directors. With a vast network, Nikki has collaborated with many prominent clients and specialises in senior, executive, and specialist appointments. Alongside recruitment, Nikki is also a me&dee Board Trustee, a member of the Menopause Friendly Accreditation team, as well as Board sponsor for the Wellbeing team Nikki met with the HR Director to share our inclusion checklist and discuss their challenges relating to diversity and inclusion within recruitment. Following this meeting, as part of DHU’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, Sellick Partnership has also pledged to signing.

Charlotte Broomfield recruits HR professionals on an interim, contract and permanent basis for public and not-for-profit organisations. Her in-depth, collaborative and values-led approach to the recruitment process is what makes her stand out from the competition. Additionally, Charlotte is a member of the Diversity Champions at Sellick Partnership.

Recruitment approach

DHU Healthcare recently approached us regarding 3 exclusive vacancies to cover a recent leaver, a promotion in the team and a new project to undertake. The roles were:

  • People and Culture Business Partner – permanent
  • People and Culture Administrator – permanent
  • HR Project Administrator – 6 month contract

DHU had previously tried to advertise the roles themselves on their own website and on the NHS jobs website. They received lots of applications and interviewed several candidates for the People and Culture Business Partner role but were unable to make an offer.

Charlotte arranged a meeting with key stakeholders to fully understand the requirements for each vacancy and agree a project plan for the recruitment campaign aligned with the priorities of the team and ideal order of appointments. As the more senior position DHU were keen to appoint the Business Partner position first, with the administrator roles following afterwards. Charlotte then devised a recruitment timeline to manage the three vacancies, assigning appropriate resource internally for each key stage and agreeing provision interview dates for each of the vacancies.

Charlotte undertook a wide-reaching attraction strategy for each vacancy, including tailored advertisements, LinkedIn and social media promotion, detailed searches of our existing talent pools, and market mapping and headhunting. Following shortlisting five candidates were invited in to interview for the Business Partner position, and four candidates invited to final interview for the administrator roles.

Outcome

We successfully placed all 3 HR vacancies within a period of 6 weeks and we have since been successful in placing a hard-to-fill HR Advisor position on a 12-month fixed term basis, after DHU conducted internal interviews.

Client testimonial

"The team at Sellick Partnership took time to hear and understand the needs for me and my team, to ensure they could go out to their candidate base with confidence. They ensured that the candidates put forward and subsequently interviewed absolutely met the criteria of the role and the fit for the current team and organisation. Their dedication, determination and knowledge threaded through every communication and search and resulted in several successful placements.

My team are my number one priority and my gratitude and appreciation for Charlotte and her teams work, are beyond words. Our new team members mean those internally promoted, can start their roles and new roles filled by Sellick Partnership puts in place the right support for the teams. I highly recommend Sellick Partnership and will look to them for any future needs within my team."
