By Sellick Partnership

At Sellick Partnership, our commitment to giving back to the community has always been at the heart of what we do. We believe that, as a business, we have a responsibility to create a positive impact – whether that’s by supporting local charities, reducing our environmental footprint, or empowering our employees to make a difference.

In 2024, we elevated these efforts by rebranding our charity committee to the CSR Committee, reflecting the expanded scope of our initiatives. This year also marked a significant milestone for us as we began to focus more intentionally on sustainability and our carbon footprint, ensuring our efforts extend beyond fundraising and volunteering to include making a tangible impact on the planet.

Through collaboration and creativity, our team has been determined to deliver meaningful results that benefit us all. Here’s a closer look at everything we’ve achieved in 2024.

Fundraising highlights

In 2024, we raised over £20,000 for a range of causes, demonstrating the generosity of our teams. From our offices across the UK, we saw employees dedicate time and effort to fundraising activities, including:

  • Sporting tournaments: We held three charity football tournaments, each supporting a different cause:
    • Manchester Professionals' Football League, raising funds for St Ann’s Hospice.
    • Midlands Charity Football Tournament, supporting me&dee.
    • Newcastle Charity Football Tournament, raising funds for If U Care Share.
  • Charity skydive: A number of our colleagues jumped 14,000 feet from a plane to raise money for charities close to their hearts, including: Mind, Breast Cancer Now, TEAM RISE Project, Henshaws, Cerebral Palsy Sport, Sands and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Collectively, they raised £5,500.
  • Yorkshire Three Peaks: The team embarked on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in support of Henshaws, raising an impressive £3,000. Over the course of the 24-mile hike, they showcased incredible teamwork, determination, and commitment to the cause. To make the experience even more memorable, the group stayed overnight, enjoying some well-earned downtime together.

Other fundraising efforts ensured that there was something for everyone with more activities including: half marathons, 10 kilometre runs and netball tournaments, among many other sporting challenges. Our End of Financial Year Awards table donations, coffee mornings, quizzes, and books and bakes also helped raise significant funds for our chosen charities.

Volunteering hours

Our employees went above and beyond, collectively contributing over 200 volunteering hours in 2024, this is an 118% increase on our efforts in 2023. From assisting with local charity events to supporting vital services, our team dedicated time to the causes that matter most.

Some of the volunteer days included working with Leeds Children’s Charity, Wood Street Mission, Mustard Tree, and Henshaws.

For Wood Street Mission, we took part in gift-wrapping at Waterstone’s, collecting donations to support their vital work, and volunteered directly at their headquarters for the Christmas Appeal, where we helped families select gifts for their children, to brighten the festive season. At Henshaws, we lent a hand at their Carols by Candlelight evening at Manchester Cathedral, supporting their mission to empower individuals with visual impairments.

Donation days

As part of our commitment to giving back, we took part in several donation days:

  • Easter egg collections
  • Clothes donations
  • Stationery collection
  • Christmas toy collections

These efforts ensured that those in need had access to essential items, and offered our teams a variety of opportunities to support those within their communities.

Sustainability and carbon footprint improvements

In 2024, we began to prioritise sustainability as a core part of our CSR efforts. To reduce our environmental footprint, we introduced car sharing and promoted the cycle-to-work scheme. We also encouraged employee participation in initiatives such as:

  • World Water Day
  • Meat-free lunch
  • Clothes swap
  • 10k steps challenge

These initiatives not only raised awareness about sustainability but also encouraged positive lifestyle changes within our team.

Social value and partnerships

Our engagement in social value initiatives continued through various partnerships and workshops. We partnered with Northampton University, Adullam Housing, and others to host social value workshops and sales training sessions.

Mainly led by Associate Director, Claire Harrison, we delivered employability workshops, in partnership with our clients, to individuals who are looking to improve their job searching skills and interview techniques, free of charge. Content topics for these workshops included CV writing tips, interview preparation, networking advice, and what to expect from a new role.

You can find out more about our social value workshops here: https://www.sellickpartnership.co.uk/employers/employability-workshops/

In addition, we collaborated with St Ann's Hospice and Henshaws to further our commitment to corporate social responsibility by providing some expert sales training to both fundraising teams, which was kindly organised by Group Director, Ray Wareing.

Looking ahead

2024 has been a transformative year for Sellick Partnership’s CSR Committee; with a stronger focus on sustainability alongside our charitable and volunteering efforts, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved and excited to continue building on this momentum in 2025 and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our initiatives, donated, volunteered, or taken part in our events. Your efforts make a real difference!
