A Public Law Care Solicitor is required to join an award-winning firm that is ranked in Chambers and Partners for Public Children Law based in Walthamstow on a full-time permanent basis. This is an opportunity for a Public Law Care Solicitor to join the Family Law team and become a member of an established law firm that upholds its reputation for providing exceptional service to its clientele.

Title: Public Law Care Solicitor

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 DOE

Contract: Full-time permanent

Location: Walthamstow

Key Responsibilities of the Public Law Care Solicitor:

  • Advise clients (parents, children, and family members) on child protection and care proceedings.
  • Represent clients in court during care proceedings, ensuring their views are heard.
  • Manage care proceedings, including filing documents and attending hearings.
  • Handle child protection cases, investigating allegations of harm and advising clients.
  • Attend court hearings and represent clients in interim and final hearings.
  • Prepare legal documents such as statements, evidence, and case files.
  • Negotiate settlements and care plans outside of court where possible.
  • Work with other professionals (social workers, psychologists, guardians) to ensure the child's welfare.
  • Advocate for vulnerable clients, such as parents with mental health or learning difficulties.
  • Manage caseloads efficiently and keep clients updated.

Desirable Skills and Requirements of the Public Law Care Solicitor:

  • 2-4 years PQE.
  • Demonstratable experience of advocacy in both public and private law family work.
  • Flexible approach to work to meet client deadlines and maintain regular communication with clients.
  • Ambitious, driven, and highly detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and computer illiterate.
  • Confident Court Advocate.
  • Experience working on a publicly funded caseload.
