We are looking for an Adult Social Care Solicitor/Lawyer to join the Social Care and Safeguarding team at St Helens Council to provide advice and representation in all areas of Adult Social Care law.

This high-performing legal services team has a clear vision to improve outcomes for all adults and children within the community. We are looking for someone who shares their vision to add to their successful Social Care team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an amazing legal team who are Lexcel accredited and are finalists in the both the Local Government Chronical "Team of the Year 2024" awards and the LexisNexis "Customer Focus Award 2024".

Key duties of the Adult Social Care Solicitor/Lawyer:

As Adult Social Care Solicitor/Lawyer, you will be primarily responsible for providing advice, assistance and representation in court in relation to adult social care, such as DOLs and Court of Protection matters. You will also support and assist with Education and SEND matters when required. In addition, you will supervise the work of junior members of staff as and when required.

You will be an integral part of a professional legal team delivering legal advice and support You will be a positive and highly motivated person who is confident, versatile and innovative.

Ideal requirements of the Adult Social Care Solicitor/ Lawyer:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience dealing with Adult Social Care matters and have well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal. Some experience of Education and SEND tribunal matters is desirable. The ability to communicate effectively with officers internally, and externally with courts, barristers, professional bodies, and members of the public is essential.

Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from people from all parts of the legal sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established lawyer with a good understanding of Adult Social Care law to join a progressive organisation and diversify their skillset and experience. You will be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Fellow of CILEx with a current Practising Certificate.
