Sellick Partnership is thrilled to be supporting a Local Authority in Essex with recruitment for a permanent Adult Social Care Lawyer.

Our client is recruiting for a full-time permanent lawyer to join their friendly and supportive Legal Services team. The successful Adult Social Care Lawyer will be able to undertake this role on a hybrid working basis, with office attendance required for 2 days per week.

Responsibilities of the Adult Social Care Lawyer:

  • Making applications to the Court of Protection and High Court, e.g. COP applications around issuing concerning deputyships, welfare and best interests, deprivation of liberty including s21a, judicial review, inherent jurisdiction
  • Providing detailed, accurate advice on the Council's responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008, Mental Health Act 1983 and associated Regulations and Statutory Guidance
  • Providing legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including, ordinary residence, Data Protection and Freedom of Information, safeguarding, provider failure, section 117 aftercare, 16-17-year-old Deprivation of liberty cases
  • Advising Service Managers and Directors on Adult Social Care policy and procedure

Experience required for the Adult Social Care Lawyer:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
  • Prior experience gained within Adult Social Care
