In 2019 we became part of the Samsic Group – one of Europe’s largest soft service providers. Samsic were attracted to our culture, our ability to recruit and retain great talent and the similarities between our vision and values making our two businesses a perfect match.

The Senior Management Team remain an integral part of our business and this partnership gives us the opportunity to springboard our growth and continue offering the same great service our clients and candidates have enjoyed since we formed in 2002.

Our history

We have come a long way since Jo Sellick first established Sellick Partnership, working in Manchester City Centre with just his mobile phone and a telephone directory! We are proud of our journey and what we have achieved over the years. Take a look at some of our biggest milestones and proudest moments below.

2002

2002

Jo Sellick and his business partners established Sellick Partnership and opened our head office on King Street in Manchester with just a computer, telephone and a list of the 250 biggest companies in the North West.

2003

2003

Jo Sellick opens our first regional office in Newcastle after celebrating revenues of £1 million from our first year in operation. In the same year we also employed seven full time staff taking our headcount to ten.

2004

2004

Hannah Cottam established our Legal recruitment division which has now become one of the top performing legal recruitment teams in the country.

2005

Our Manchester office moved to new premises on Cross Street in Manchester and we opened our second regional office in Stoke-on-Trent.

Hannah Cottam is appointed as Legal Director to oversee our growing Legal recruitment division with more than 30 employees.

Our Manchester head office moved to its current location on Queen Street in the heart of Manchester city centre, not far from the iconic Manchester Town Hall.

Ray Wareing and Hannah Cottam are appointed to the Board of Directors to help spearhead our continued growth. We also hosted our first Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League in Manchester.

We become members of APSCo (Association of Professional Staffing Companies) which recognises our excellent standards in the recruitment industry. We also open our Leeds and Derby offices headed up by Group Director Hannah Cottam and Group Director Nikki Kinsey respectively.

The Manchester Professionals’ Football League (MPFL) was founded by Group Director Ray Wareing and now runs annually in aid of St Ann’s Hospice in Manchester.

We celebrate a very successful year of fundraising through our established sporting events and the launch of our Midlands Football Tournament which brought our total to over £45,000. The Midlands Football Tournament now runs annually in aid of Derby-based charity me&dee.

We expand our North West presence by opening our sixth office in Liverpool headed up by Group Director Ray Wareing and managed by Associate Director Abigail Day.

We celebrate being awarded Investors in People (IIP) Silver demonstrating our commitment to our employees and our unique and open culture.

We achieve our ISO 9001:2015 accreditation for the first time, reflecting our dedication to streamlining our internal processes and commitment to quality control to ensure the best possible outcomes for our stakeholders at every level.

We are recognised as one of 2015’s Best Workplaces™ in the UK by Great Place to Work® and our Derby office expands, moving to its current location at Donington House in Pride Park.

We continue to grow organically and are delighted to launch our Housing & Property Services and HR recruitment specialisms.

We celebrate 15 years in business and are ranked amongst the fastest growing companies in Europe by the Financial Times. Due to increased demand for our services we also begin to diversify further offering recruitment solutions in other sectors including Actuarial and Procurement

We are recognised as one of the Best Workplaces™ in the UK by Great Place to Work® ranking 13th in the Medium Category, and achieve Investors in People Gold status. We also launch our new website and refresh the Sellick Partnership brand to help support our continued growth.

French soft services company Samsic takes a majority stake in Sellick Partnership to help the business with accelerated growth plans over the next few years. We are also recognised as the Best Workplaces in the UK™ by Great Place to Work®  ranking 7th in the Medium category.

2020

2020 was a tough year for many businesses due to the pandemic, however we quickly adapted and moved to remote working for all employees, eventually moving to a flexible working week. We were also recognised as one of the 100 Best Workplaces™ in the UK by Great Place to Work®. Alongside this, we attained the Laureate badge as this was the fifth consecutive year that we achieved this accreditation.

In 2021, we celebrated having 1,000 temporary candidates out on assignment with us, which is a truly fantastic achievement. In addition to this, we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of our Midlands Charity Football Tournament in aid of me&dee. We also attained the Investors in People Gold standard and were shortlisted for the Great Place to Work® UK accreditation.

We were delighted to win the APSCo Awards for Excellence Support Services Team of the Year Award for our excellent Compliance team!

In January 2024, Jo Sellick made the difficult to decision to leave the business he founded in 2002. We were all sad to see Jo leave us but are also really excited for the future. Hannah Cottam took over the business as Chief Operating Officer.
